What purpose does using crystals serve when you are doing energy work?
Barbara, Red River, NM

Crystals are composed of minute particles (atoms) which carry their own vibrations
and energy.   When you hold certain crystals, they can seem warmer or colder than
the temperature of your hand.  Metaphysically, they are capable of receiving,
projecting, and reflecting light, and light is the highest form of energy known.   The
energies of crystals assist in releasing emotional, mental and spiritual blocks,
which realign your personal energy to promote well-being.  During healing work,
crystals are strategically placed on or around the body, and it is said that their use
is similar to having extra sets of hands working on you throughout a session.

Does a person have to stop seeing their regular doctor or psychologist in order to
receive and benefit from holistic and energy practices?
Georgia, Allentown, PA

No, not at all.   Holistic services easily integrate with standard medical and
psychological treatments.  If a person has an existing medical diagnosis or
psychological condition, it is recommended that they work  with licensed health
care professionals in addition to receiving holistic recommendations.   Energy
healing works in conjunction with, and will enhance and improve the results of, all
other forms of practice, including prescription drugs, surgery, psychological
evaluation, chiropractic adjustments, and any other methods of conventional and
alternative care.

How do you use Reiki for birthing?
Dana M., Greenleaf, WI

Relaxation and pain management are critical during birthing, for both mother and
child.  As a gentle, noninvasive, healing and relaxation technique, Reiki energy
can be used in several ways during childbirth:  throughout pregnancy, hands-on
during labor, and
distantly when privacy is an issue.  Distant Reiki involves a
specific meditation done by a trained practitioner, either during or in advance of an
event.  As odd as that may sound, numerous
testimonies confirm the effectiveness
of Distant Reiki.  An expectant mother, and/or her birthing partner, can also be
taught how to use Reiki for childbirth and other purposes once they are
attuned to
Reiki energy.

I’ve come across the term ‘raindrop therapy’.  What is it, and what are the
benefits?
~Matthew, Shakopee, MN

Raindrop therapy makes use of the application of essential oils to the feet, neck
and back, to bring mind/body/spirit into energetic alignment.  Using pure,
therapeutic oils (natural plant extracts), they are dispensed several inches above
the back and allowed to fall like raindrops onto the skin, hence the name.
Essential oils have an energetic charge, and when applied properly with Reiki and
Vitaflex motion, enhance the oils’ ability to relax and heal. They have been used for
centuries (think frankincense and myrrh) to promote well-being by activating their
natural properties.

Is Reiki beneficial to animals?
Michael V., Little Chute, WI

Very much so.  Animals are quite sensitive to their environment, and especially
receptive to Reiki energy healing.  Since their communication is nonverbal,
animals respond to the energy instinctively with no verbal thoughts to question or
block it, and will frequently and instinctively change positions until they feel the
energy flow where they need it most.   Animals often heal more quickly and easily
than we do, again because they know what they need, and because they hold no
judgments. Even for animals who are already healthy, Reiki assists in maintaining
health, enhancing relaxation, and providing an emotional sense of peace.

What does it mean to be a Holistic Health Practitioner?
Charmaine - Winter Park, CO

Defining ‘holistic’ as the balance between mind, body and spirit, a Holistic Health
Practitioner works with wellness, healing, prevention, maintenance, and longevity.
An HHP may specialize, or have a general knowledge in numerous areas
involving a client’s care, examples of which are:  energy healing, essential
oils/aromatherapy, meditation, breath work, supplements, nutrition, exercise,
spiritual counseling, and lifestyle coaching.  Holistic health care addresses not
only symptoms, but the entire person and the body’s ability to heal itself using
natural approaches, as well as encouraging the client to become involved in the
self-care process.

I would like to experience your services, but I’m still not sure I ‘get it’.  Will that
make the sessions less beneficial for me?
Melanie - Oshkosh, WI

I doubt that anyone, even those with decades of experience, truly ‘gets it’.  Energy
healing techniques improve and enhance health and quality of life regardless of
whether you understand those techniques, or even believe they can be of benefit
to you.  We involve sources of energy every day that we may not completely
understand, such as the flipping of a light switch to brighten a room, turning a key
to start the car, or logging on to our computers.   My most originally skeptical
clients have been convinced and amazed at their first sessions, and their newly
opened minds served to bring further benefit in subsequent treatments.

I’ve been seeing the frequent mention of energy healing and energy work, is this
something new?
Amanda - Neenah, WI

Energy work is centuries old, but our understanding of it is becoming more
evolved.  Everyone, and every thing, is a form of energy.   Just as we have a
physical body and a mental body, we also have an energy body.  Energy healing
works to balance, restore and rejuvenate the energy body with positive,
noninvasive, therapeutic techniques.   Where negative energies such as stress,
poor habits, and toxins trigger illness and dysfunction, it only makes sense that
wellness and healing can be obtained through the use of applied positive energy.

Are holistic care and energy work beneficial to people who suffer from arthritis?
What about other age-related problems such as general aches and pains?
Marion - Ventura, CA

Many ‘age-related problems’ are not as specifically related to chronological age,
as they are to simply repeating the same habits and routines over a longer period
of time.   Holistic care promotes the healthy balance between mind, body and
spirit.  In a nutshell: keeping all three active to the best of your abilities, as well as
flexing those abilities.  Energy work addresses the subtle, and not so subtle,
balances and imbalances in our mental, physical, and spiritual energy systems.
Relaxation, pain management and relief, and an improved sense of well-being
can be achieved at any time.  Age is irrelevant.

I am a person who on a daily basis has chronic back and neck pain.  I have lived
with this for many years.  I do on occasion take medication and with the help of
chiropractic care manage to keep the pain to a minimum.   I noted on your web
site that you can do Reiki from a distance.  Could this type of treatment work for
me??  Would I receive all the healing benefits (mind, body and spirit) of a Reiki
treatment or do you concentrate on one thing at a time?
Chris S. - New Brunswick, Canada

Reiki works quite well from a
distance, as Reiki channels healing energy from the
Universe's energy sources in order to do its work.  Before I begin a session,
whether hands-on or distant, I set an intention based on what the client is in need
of, and energy will flow to fulfill that need.  So, in your case, if you were to request
healing for your back issues, as well as having other requests for mind and/or
body and/or spirit, they would all be incorporated into the same session.  Or
sometimes just a general request is made 'for the recipient's highest good'.

The success rate varies with both hands-on and distant work - depending on how
serious the physical issues are, how long they've been in existence, what
methods of self-care the client is using, etc.  All in all, I see no reason why distant
healing wouldn't be of benefit to you, and I look forward to our working together.
What one piece of advice would you give for a person to self-improve their
spiritual wellness?
Maria, Fond du Lac, WI

What a wonderful question for this time of year.  And the answer is:  Maintain an
Attitude of Gratitude.  Consciously make note of what you can be grateful for,
along with a positive reason why, even if it isn’t particularly your dream or first
choice.  “I am grateful for transportation because it takes me to visit my family
and friends”.  The specifics of your vehicle is irrelevant… the visit is equally
meaningful whether you got there in a Moped or Mercedes.  By consistently
practicing the Attitude of Gratitude, your spiritual energy level will increase.  With
the holistic nature of the mind/body/spirit connection, you will be improving your
mental and physical health as well.   Keep a gratitude journal and add five entries
daily.  It works, I promise.

Can you give me some information on reflexology?
Lisa W., Garden City, AL

Reflexology is a whole-body method of stimulating reflex areas in the feet, hands
and ears that correspond to glands, organs and various body parts.  Remember
any charts you’ve seen of muscle and nerve pathways, and the expansive array of
interconnection.  More than a hand and foot massage, Reflexology releases
stress and tension in the areas of focus, facilitating the body’s healing process,
and improving lymph flow and blood circulation.  Reflexology calms the nervous
system, reduces stress, releases toxins and strengthens the body’s immunity.
As an added benefit, it feels great too
.

What kind of other "tools" do you use in Reiki, for example crystals, heated
stones, and what type of benefits will you get from these?
Dee S. - Perry, Iowa

My first session with a client includes the initial intake and assessment, and a full
hands-on Reiki session focusing on ten of the main energy centers of the body.
This allows a complete mind/body/spirit connection with source energy, and gives
both practitioner and client a feel for what is needed to accelerate and amplify the
process of wellness.  Additional tools, such as gemstones, essential oils
(aromatherapy), heated or cooled lightweight stones, and therapeutic crystals, are
used in subsequent sessions after evaluation of the individual client's needs.
These tools are of benefit because everything is made of energy and has its own
electrical/magnetic charge and vibration.  The use of these energies assists the
process of energy healing in a positive manner, comparable to having an extra
set of hands during the session.

I will be starting chemotherapy for breast cancer.   Can Reiki minimize some of
the side effects of the chemo?   How about distance healing?
Janet - Lake Zurich, IL

Reiki and a holistic (mind/body/spirit) approach are excellent tools to use within
your treatment program.   Sessions are relaxing, gentle and non-invasive,
providing benefit on all levels:   pain management; reduction of anxiety and
depression; easing the side effects of chemo and radio therapies; promoting a
positive attitude; and more readily connecting you with spirit - all of which lead the
body to wholeness.   Distant healing only differs by the absence of personal
contact.   Additionally, the technique of self-Reiki can easily be learned and used
on a regular basis in between treatments.

I have way too much anxiety, complicated by depression.  How do energy
healing, Reiki and holistic health practice address that?  Can you help me without
hearing my whole life story?
Hilary J. - Iowa

Yes.  Holistic practice treats the person as a whole, with a mind/body/spirit
connection that is individual to each client’s desires and needs.  Reiki works to
detect and remove energy blocks so the recipient can let go of worry, anger and
past hurts through deep relaxation.  Further balance can be achieved through
diet and exercise recommendations, lifestyle advice, supplements, yoga,
aromatherapy, and spiritual counseling (which is not the same as
psychotherapy).  Depending on the severity, a stand-alone or combination of
techniques may be used, as well as integrating with professional practices
outside that realm.

Can Reiki enhance my sex life?
Lisa – Wisconsin

Of course it can.   Reiki can enhance, rejuvenate and assist with Anything and
Everything, based on the desires and intentions of the client, which is discussed
at the beginning of each treatment.  Energy healing works with the energy centers
(Chakras) of the body, with  each Chakra having an assigned purpose.   Sexuality
is part of the sacral Chakra's purpose, and the sacral Chakra is addressed for 5
minutes during an initial 45 minute session... longer during follow-up sessions if
the practitioner and client feel it is needed.   Reiki is also so relaxing and
therapeutic from a holistic (mind/body/spirit) perspective, that the benefits from
stress reduction alone can spark new interest and adventure - even more so
when both partners have been balanced and renewed.

In relation to reclaiming our children, and personally feeling you should never
give a child under 2 any medicines, what holistic - daily or frequent - remedy
would you recommend for this age range of children to keep them moderately to
significantly healthy during this period of their life?
Eddie - Fishers, Indiana

I agree with your position that unless there is an obvious medical need, that
children should be allowed to maintain the perfect natural state they were born
into.   Babies and toddlers benefit greatly from energy work (Reiki), both hands-
on and distantly.   Their innocence and acceptance is a perfect combination.
Additionally, a balanced, healthy diet, with a low percentage of sugars and
additives, as well as a household free of harsh chemicals, will assist the body;
age-appropriate play activities, both alone and with others, will stimulate the
mind; and the spirit will be nurtured with Unconditional Love.   Tell your child on a
daily basis, even when they are asleep, how loved and perfect they are; and
remember:  The best thing a man can do for his children is to love their mother.

What is your philosophy, as it stands, with lemon/lemon juice being a cure-all?
Do you agree that a glass of one lemon, warm water and spoon of honey a day
will keep many viruses at bay?
Steve - Tartu, Estonia

Lemon juice is internally cleansing, specifically in the area of detoxifying and
improving liver function.  A full lemon is pretty strong though, unless it's a big
glass.  Half a lemon will do, as it is not necessarily a case of more is better.
Honey has anti-viral properties, so yes, the concoction can keep many viruses at
bay.

I'm experiencing a lot of stress in my life, how can your services help me?
JB - Appleton

Stress reduction is just one of many issues that can be helped tremendously with
hands-on services.  Sessions are held in an atmosphere of low-lighting, soft
music, and peaceful tranquility.  Reiki in itself is a centuries old, proven stress
reduction technique.   As a recipient, all you have to do is lie down and breathe.
There's nothing stressful about that.

A co-worker has regular Reiki sessions, but she can’t explain what it is other
than it having given her almost complete relief from fibromyalgia pain and
fatigue.  I’m thinking of checking it out, but I don’t have fibromyalgia or pain, I’m
just really tired all the time.
Jennifer S. - Kaukauna, WI

Reiki falls into the category of energy healing, and is the method I use most often
in my practice.  Reiki is gentle, hands-on, and performed while the client is lying
down, fully clothed, in a relaxing, peaceful, setting.   Reiki energy has a healing
frequency that promotes balance, physical energy, health and well-being in any
circumstance, so it doesn’t matter that your situation is different from hers.   As
your co-worker will attest, Reiki is easier to experience than it is to define.  The
only way to understand is to try it for yourself.
